Description
Thymosin Alpha-1 supplied as a research reagent for in-vitro laboratory use. Every lot is assayed by reverse-phase HPLC to ≥98% purity, with identity confirmed by mass spectrometry and residual water content checked by Karl Fischer titration. Purity is verified across multiple independent laboratories, and material is sourced across multiple manufacturers so the highest-purity batch can be selected for release.
Specification
- Sequence: 28 residues, N-acetylated; approx. 3,108 Da
- CAS number: to be confirmed against the certificate of analysis
- Physical form: Lyophilised powder
- Purity: ≥98% by RP-HPLC
- Storage: 2°C – 8°C, protect from light
Research findings
- Identity note: Thymosin Alpha-1 is unrelated to TB-500 / thymosin beta-4 despite the shared “thymosin” name — different sequence, different size and different biology. Literature on one does not apply to the other
- Isolated from bovine thymus fraction 5 and sequenced as a 28-residue acetylated peptide, with reported induction of T-cell differentiation markers in precursor populations in vitro [1]
- Reported in preclinical work to signal through Toll-like receptors on dendritic cells, promoting dendritic cell maturation and a Th1-biased T-cell response [2]
- Marketed as Zadaxin (thymalfasin) and approved in roughly 30–35 countries, including Italy and China, for chronic hepatitis B and as a vaccine adjuvant in immunocompromised patients.
- The largest controlled trial to date is TESTS, a multicentre double-blind randomised placebo-controlled phase 3 trial in 1,106 sepsis patients [3]

Regulatory status
RESEARCH USE ONLY — NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. Supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research by qualified professionals. Not a medicine, supplement, cosmetic or food. Must not be administered to humans or animals.
Vial and carton labels show 99% purity — the specification we aim for on every batch. Our guaranteed minimum is ≥98% by RP-HPLC, and the measured result for each batch appears on its certificate of analysis.
